The Hut at Spafields in Clerkenwell, was the cornerstone of the practice prior to its conception. Curro was a recent architecture graduate from Greenwich University and in the process of attending the RCA when he was commission to design and oversee the construction of the project.

The Hut was Highly Commended as the Best Community based Planning Initiative at the London Planning Awards 2007. It was later selected as a reference project a the Roof Cladding Section at the 2009 European Copper Competition.

This project was a point of reference for the development of the practice, from a sole practitioner to a team of eight people, reflecting a clear sense of architectural training, analytical modelling and the experience of the city.

The proposal recognised by the press as an exemplary method of reviving a redundant park building, of which there are many hundreds in the UK, which was delivered by local young people and built to excellent standards.

The shape and use of the poetic qualities of a copper spire is an ecclesiastical reference, while the building triangulates and compliments the modernist architecture of the neighbouring Grade 1 Lubetkin Health Centre and the Grade 2 Italian Basilica style Church. It was Curro's first encounter with the English Heritage and Conservation Teams of London, an experience in which he is now well versed.
