We at Studio Idealyc have been appointed to undertake the submission of a project at 45 – 46 Lower Marsh, Lambeth, London. The application in question is for the addition of a contemporary glazed extension to the rear of the property. The aim of the proposal is to create an essential new office space for the expanding company that currently occupies the upper floor of 45 – 46 Lower Marsh. The timber clad box echoes the way in which the historic Lower Marsh has developed over the course of hundreds of years as a trading centre, and represents a modern intervention into an area which has been at the forefront of change and development in the city for centuries.
The proposal aims to create further space for our client, allowing more natural light into the building, whilst creating a contemporary office space in the heart of Lower Marsh. The design of the new extension echoes the eclectic nature of the architectural styles evident throughout Lower Marsh, as is designed to maximise the use of what is now an extremely underused space. The new proposal will create another exciting addition to the complex and fascinating architectural fabric of the The Lower Marsh.
