This projects submission was of a sensitive nature. The application includes two aspects.

The first is a single storey extension between the current kitchen and the neighbouring boundary wall, which has a height of 6.3m from ground level. This neighboring wall exceeds the height of No.31’s (our Clients property) first floor, imposing a sense of enclosure to the property and shutting out most of the natural light, rendering the current out-side space futile. The scheme centres around respecting privacy, preservation of the character (from materials used to the overall design), scale, appearance, bulk and natural light.

The second aspect is a roof extension, for which we created a bedroom for a growing family. For this we took into consideration that the property in question is a two bedroom dwelling with limited scale, setting the aim of this proposal focused firmly on the current needs of the expanding family.

Both extensions have been carefully considered and designed, through thor- ough research of the site and prior experience dealing with complex conser- vation area proposals, so as to create a design that is specific and suitable to the site context and conservation area concerns.
