Competitions

In April 2012 we entered a competition held by Open City to design a children activity to be run over a weekend with the intention of engaging children with the Built Environment. We located our activity in Abchurch Yard, in the heart of the City and metres away from the epicentre of the Great Fire of London.

Our proposal featured a workshop for children, which would be run by members of our team from the studio. Working closely with the children and with a limited budget of £500 we considered using the entertaining medium of balloons to construct a replica of the spire of the nearby Church, reconstructed by St Paul's architect, Christopher Wren. This activity allows us to construct almost impossible temporary light weight structures given the properties of the materials.

Studio Idealyc were Highly Commended among a shortlist of 10 entries for our creative understanding of the brief. For more information on this competition follow this link to the organisers website
